Livingston Hospital - News
SALEM, KY – Today, Livingston Hospital & Healthcare Services (LHHS) announced their affiliation with Deaconess Health System.
The affiliation, effective this week, will help LHHS bring new physicians, specialists and services to the area, while keeping a local focus on quality healthcare in Livingston County. LHHS remains independent, and current hospital leadership and board members will remain in place.
“In today’s healthcare climate, rural hospitals are faced with extensive challenges to provide the healthcare needed to best serve their communities,” said Barry Chittenden, LHHS Board President. “As we began discussing this affiliation with Deaconess, it became apparent that a partnership would benefit our organization, employees, patients and community.”
“This decision is the realization of months of study, research, analysis and communication between LHHS and Deaconess to determine the right path for a cohesive relationship that will benefit our patients for decades to come,” said Shane Whittington, CEO, LHHS. “By working closely with Deaconess and Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville, we will continue to provide the highest quality care, while diversifying our specialty offerings and assuring personalized care with convenient access and positive patient experiences.”
Close alignment with Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville will be a key component for expanding services and increasing access to specialists.
“I am pleased to welcome LHHS as our newest affiliate,” said Shawn McCoy, CEO, Deaconess Health System. “At Deaconess, we strongly believe in local decisions and local leadership for healthcare organizations. By helping strengthen rural and critical access hospitals, we want local communities to benefit through more diversified, high-quality healthcare services.”
Meetings for medical staff and employees took place this week, sharing details of the announcement and answering questions. No staffing changes are anticipated, and employees will remain in their current roles.
Updates to services and other affiliation-related news will be shared with local media, and will be posted to www.lhhs.org and LHHS social media pages.
